Believe it or not, punk is one of my favorite aesthetics, moments in music, and eras. Besides loving a good tartan and the classic punk aesthetic of destruction and subversiveness, I love that it isn't just about safety pins. Just look at the music. Some make the accusation that the Ramones' songs all sound the same, and that might have some truth but they always played hard and fast and they never incessantly jammed. Being your own person is at the heart of the punk movement, anarchy aside, and that's always been my goal. Last night's Met Gala provided, as always, some of the most amazing and daring looks of the season. This year took it to new heights, bringing downtown uptown, with the help of a very special urinal.

If you kept reading until way down here, I'm seriously impressed with your attention span! What I love about these is that while some are minimalist, and some have studs and safety pins galore, I see punk in all of them. All of these women went against the grain and made some very exiting choices.
