The Emmy's were this past Sunday! I watched the broadcast a day late because I'm not home and was kind of disappointed this year in the actual show, but I did eat up all of the fashion that went down and was pleasantly surprised to see that some actual fun, exciting risks were taken!
For example, Amanda Peet's combination of sheer and lace fabrics and modesty in silhouette is an amazing dichotomy. Kristen Connolly's bold choice of fabric could have looked a little 70s and disco, but it is modern, edgy, and striking on her. Rose Byrne, looking flawless as always, brought midriff to the Emmy's and made pink look tough. Zosia Mamet wore a youthful, bold, printed dress that I'm actually kind of in love with.
Besides the risk takers there was plenty of glamour to go around! Christina Hendricks looked amazing, and it was one of the few times that I feel like her body was actually shown off to its best. Anna Gunn was the picture of perfection. Taylor Schilling's stunning simplicity stood out among embellishments and elaborate gowns in the best way. Kerry Washington and Claire Danes were the very picture of romantic beauty. January Jones (one of my absolute favorites) and Laura Dern stunned in sweet shades of pink with lovely details. Michelle Dockery looked amazing. She was one of my favorites of the evening in an unexpected, regal, completely gorgeous choice. Zooey Deschanel stuck with her signature color but did it in a completely unexpected way that was still totally her but very sleek. Allison Williams was the classic All-American girl with a lot of glamour added in.
As for overall trends, very pale pastel tones were popular. There was a big show for lace and simplicity as well.
