The Essentials: Leather Edition

source
I'm going to round up my all-time favorites for essential products that everyone should have! The perfect, classic cuts that will last you forever and have you primed and ready for everything you might encounter in your day.

Jacket | Satchel | Boots | Purse | Skirt | Watch | Planner
Motorcycle Jacket: A leather jacket, especially in a motorcycle silhouette is the quintessential city-girl jacket. It's a must have to add an edge to any outfit that still maintains some classicism. It goes with practically everything and will give you confidence with every step. All Saints makes some amazing leather motorcycle jackets. This one has the perfect details and is distressed in all the right places. I love the quilting and the fitted cut, as well as the minimalism in terms of a lack of hardware and buckles.

Satchel: My mom hates satchels, but I love the air of academia that they lend to outfits and the mod '60s vibe that they instill. They absolutely belong in London all the time, but are still the perfect autumn bag for any other place. A fun pattern or color helps your personality shine through and the Cambridge Satchel Company has so many options it will make your head spin! As a perennial plaid-lover, I could not help but fall in love with this version.

Chelsea Boots: With a classic, clean, timeless cut, Chelsea boots go with just about anything. Not boring, but stylish and understated, they will give you a European flair that can transition from office, to shopping, to date night. It's a surprisingly tricky style to get exactly right, but these Frye boots are the exact right shape and proportions, with some simple and pretty details added with seaming.

Purse: A simple carryall with two usable handle options that is minimalist and effortless will take you not only through any occasion that you need, but through years too. It is a purchase that you will never regret and that will be well worth your money. This Madewell purse is so perfect it will feel like a part of you that you'll never want to leave at home.

Skirt: Leather skirts have never been as accessible and just plain necessary for a wardrobe as they are now. A pleated a-line silhouette is sweet, but the leather kicks it into high gear. Plus, this version by Alice & Olivia is beautifully made, soft like butter, and the perfect proportions. You just can't get much better than this!

Watch: A timeless (pun intended) watch with a leather band can do no wrong. I love a menswear-inspired watch with a large face and Kate Spade's watches are classic, but absolutely never ordinary. Think of it as the perfect basic accessory. Functional and chic, you'll never want to take it off.

Planner: In general, I have a lot going on. I am usually running from one thing to the next every day so I use a planner to keep everything straight, jot things down throughout the day, and generally make sure that I'm not forgetting anything important. My current planner is my absolute favorite. Moleskine's are stylish, minimal, and grown up in the best way. My version is black, but the red adds a little punch that I love.

Other Leather Essentials: Dr. Martens, Leggings, Duffel Bag

What are some of your essentials? Stay tuned for more!

  2. I have the jacket, boots and the bag. Not those exact ones, obviously, but it's nice to know I have three out of the seven. ;) Great picks and I definitely think having a leather accessory is a perfect essential. I also think it's a good thing to have some type of pop of color in your wardrobe. It can literally be in anything, just as long as it's there. I wear a lot of black clothing, but I like to 'spice' it up with a fun accessory that's a bold color.

    Always,
    Mostly Lisa

    1. Thanks so much! You're so right, color is ESSENTIAL! I chose mostly black here as a little reminder to myself to actually buy some black pieces - I have a tendency to buy the brightest colors I can find and no neutrals :) So glad you liked this post!
