Tuesday Tunes: Otis Redding covered by St. Paul and The Broken Bones

Happy Tuesday! I haven't written much in a while but sometimes inspiration just starts to strike all at once. I was surfing the interwebs as I often do and found some pretty stellar Otis Redding covers. St. Paul and The Broken Bones are a soul group based out of Alabama and boy do they bring the soul. Rarely do I find Otis covers that I want to listen to as much as the originals, and these guys are at the top of the pile for me. They do enough to make the songs sound new, but truly retain the integrity of what the original songs are. Cheesy though it may be, they don't shy away from the passion that is so engrained in Redding's work, and that element is so vital to the success of these songs, and is a huge part of the reason I've had them on repeat for the past two days.

Starting off with a bang, here's their fast, roaring version of Try a Little Tenderness:

And ending with an equal bang, here's their utterly passionate version of I've Been Loving You Too Long that brought me to tears and Paul to his knees:

Dressometry

Between intern/student life, dancing up a storm, and trying to be as fabulous as Cher Horowitz (a full time job ladies and gents), I also work with a company Dressometry and now I'm shouting from the rooftops about how great it is. You might be thinking that I'm just doing this because I have to or I'm getting something out of it, but really this is about to become your new best friend.

In an age where the internet has every option under the sun, sometimes you need a way to filter through everything to find what you want, and that is exactly what Dressometry does for you. It provides you with a range of criteria so you are able to filter down what you are looking for. Whether you're shopping for a special occasion or looking for an airy dress for these lazy, hazy days of summer, Dressometry is the perfect first step for filtering through all that the internet has to offer. It even gives you alternatives when you click on a dress. The possibilities are limitless. It's a shopping addict's best dream and worst nightmare because it's so easy to use and makes you want to spend all of your money!

After taking my latest peek around the site, I am majorly lusting after this Nasty Gal dress. The gingham pattern is perfectly retro and the graphic black and white makes such a statement. The styling possibilities are endless whether you go sweet or punky.

Dress: Nasty Gal via Dressometry | Hat: Topshop | Boots: Jeffrey Campbell | Purse: Kate Spade Saturday | Necklace: Madewell | Midi Ring: Madewell | Lipstick: Nars

Summer in the City: Part 1

This is my second summer in New York City and it has been a complete blast so far! Greenwich Village is my home until August and I've made it my mission to explore as much as I can. I've got an endlessly long bucket list and I've been chipping away at it bit by bit! Stay tuned as I share pictures, stories, and opinions on what I did.
